What a wonderful weekend! Saturday my husband of eight(well almost)years took the four oldest children over to his mom and dad's. His mom watched them all while Jarrod and his dad worked on a roof. I had a blissfully quiet and wonderful day with Wyatt. We watch food network, folded laundry, chatted a lot, and Wyatt slept. He's doing wonderfully and I enjoy him more every day. He's pretty much worked out the sleeping thing, that's not saying he sleeps through the night. He does usually only wake up once to eat. Not bad! They were gone from eight in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon. We then went to Saturday night mass, and home. We watched Spiderman 3 (very good, if only slightly cheesy) and all passed out early. Sunday we had no plans. It was gorgeous weather here, and we all took full advantage. There is nothing better than getting out in the yard with the kids and play football, soccer, or just rake leaves and watch them have fun. OJ is really an outdoorsy gal. She was literally only inside to take a nap, from morning til dark. The kids even gathered at our picnic table for a neighborhood luncheon(pictured above) Jarrod kept himself busy putting landscaping bricks, bought long ago, all around or garden beds. I think he did a great job.

Today we had some sad news. Sam is home sick and this morning we were watching cartoons and heard a loud thunk. Sam went to investigate. "Mom a cardinal hit the window!" Sure enough to the window was stuck three tiny red feathers, and just below lie a dead cardinal in my herb garden. I couldn't believe it. I though OJ was going to jump out the window to go check it out. She has a bit of morbid fascination with anything dead, as all children do. When we catch a mouse in the mouse trap or a dead snake on the road, she will squat as close as humanly possible. Her fingers will hover millimeters over the speciman without ever actually touching it. So this blog is dedicated to the cardinal that got blown into my dining room window. RIP
